In South Korea, the research environment for sports big data is poor, and the legal framework related to it is largely being established by the government. Therefore, it is necessary to respond sensitively to such policy changes for research and technological development in the field of sports big data in the country. In this context, in 2020, South Korea revised the so-called ‘3 Data Laws', including the ｢Personal Information Protection Act｣, the ｢Information and Communication Network Act｣, and the ｢Credit Information Act｣, which were expected to have an impact on the big data sector in the country. However, research on the movements of law and policy changes in the sports field has been almost nonexistent so far, and this research was conducted based on a sense of responsibility for this. Therefore, this study, based on this background, investigates and analyzes the 2020 revisions to the Three Data Laws and proposes policy improvement measures for sports big data. The results of the study are summarized as follows: The amendments of ｢Personal Information Protection Act｣ is expected to have a significant impact on the technological development and research activities related to sports big data. The amendments of ｢Information and Communication Network Act｣ is expected to have a partial impact on the technological development and research activities related to sports big data, limited to online big data collection and its management area. The amendments of ｢Credit Information Act｣ is not expected to have a visible impact on the technological development and research activities related to sports big data.
