학령후기 아동의 신체상과 삶 만족도의 관계: 스포츠 활동 참여의 조절효과
본 연구는 급격한 신체적 성장과 함께 외모에 대한 관심이 증가하는 학령후기 아동들을 대상으로 신체상이 삶 만족 도에 미치는 영향에 대해 확인하고 신체상과 삶 만족도의 관계에서 스포츠활동 참여 여부가 조절효과를 지니는지 검토하 고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2020년 한국아동패널 13차 자료에서 초등학교 6학년 아동 및 보호자를 조사한 1,397가구의 데이 터를 사용하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학령후기 아동이 지니는 신체상의 특성은 삶 만족도에 통계적으로 유의 미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 스포츠활동 참여는 삶 만족도 및 신체상과 정적 관계를 지니는 것으로 나타났 으며, 신체상이 삶 만족도에 미치는 영향력을 조절하는 역할을 수행하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 볼 때 신체나 외모에 관심이 많고 민감하게 반응하는 학령후기 아동들이 신체상을 긍정적으로 형성할 수 있도록 지도하는 한편 아동들의 스포 츠활동 참여를 독려할 수 있는 가정, 학교, 사회의 노력이 필요함을 알 수 있다.
Relationship between Body Image and Life Satisfaction in Late School-age Children: Moderating Effect of Participation in Sports Activities
This study examined the impact of body image on life satisfaction among children of late school age who are experiencing rapid physical growth and increased interest in appearance, and examined whether participation in sports activities has a moderating effect in the relationship between body image and life satisfaction. For this purpose, we used data from 1,397 households surveying children in the 6th grade of elementary school and their guardians from the 13th Korea Children's Panel in 2020. The analysis results are as follows. First, the physical characteristics of children of late school age were found to have a statistically significant impact on life satisfaction. Second, participation in sports activities was found to have a positive relationship with life satisfaction and body image, and it was confirmed that body image played a role in moderating the influence of life satisfaction. It is clear that efforts by families, schools, and society are needed to encourage late-school-age children, who are interested and sensitive to their bodies and appearances, to form a positive body image, while also encouraging children to participate in sports activities.
