요가 참여자의 신체 이미지 및 참여 동기

본 연구는 요가 참여자와 비 참여자를 대상으로 부정적 신체이미지와 구별되는 긍정 신체이미지, 자기 객관화, 날씬함 욕구차이를 알아보는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 연구대상 중 요가 참여자는 서울, 경기, 충남, 전북지역의 여성 113명, 비 참여자는 서울, 전북지역 대학생, 대학원생 123명으로 선정하였다. 측정도구는 긍정신체 이미지척도, 자기객관화, 날씬함 욕구, 요가 참여 동기척도이다. 연구결과 긍정 신체이미지는 요가 참여자와 비 참여자 간 유의한 차이가 나타났으 며 요가 참여자의 긍정신체 이미지가 높은 평균을 보였다. 자기 객관화는 요가 참여자와 비 참여자간 유의한 차이가 확인되 었다. 자기 객관화는 요가 참여자가 비 참여자 보다 높은 평균을 보였다. 요가 참여자와 비 참여자간 날씬함 욕구차이는 비 참여자가 참여자에 비해 높은 평균을 나타냈다. 요가 참여자의 참여 동기는 건강과 체력을 높이기 위해서 문항이 가장 높은 평균을 보였다. 본 연구에서의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 요가는 신체와 긍정적 관계를 높이는 장점이 있으며 자기 객관화에 맞서 신체를 보호하는 힘이 있다는 것이다. 둘째, 요가는 자신의 신체를 더 사랑하며 존중하는 즐거운 신체활동 이라는 점이다. 셋째, 요가 참여자의 긍정신체이지는 자기객관화를 낮추는 역할을 한다는 것이다.

The Body Image and Motivation of Yoga Participants

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of positive body images, self-objectification, differences in desire for slimness, and positive body images of yoga participants on self-objectification and motivation for participation in yoga. Yoga participants were selected as 113 women in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Chungnam, and Jeonbuk, and non-participants were selected as college students and 123 graduate students in Seoul and Jeonbuk. The measurement tools used a questionnaire on the positive body image scale, self-objectification, desire for slimness, and motivation for yoga participation. As a result of the study, the positive body image showed a significant difference between yoga participants and non-participants, and the positive body image of yoga participants showed a high average. In self-objectification, a significant difference between yoga participants and non-participants was confirmed. Self-objectification showed a higher average of yoga participants than non-participants. There was a significant difference in the need for slimness between yoga participants and non-participants. The desire for slimness showed a high average of non-participants. The positive body image of yoga participants had a significant influence on self-objectification. As for the motivation for participation of yoga participants, the questions showed the highest average to improve health and physical strength. The conclusion of the study is as follows. First, yoga has the advantage of increasing a positive relationship with the body and has the power to protect the body against self-objectification. Second, yoga is a pleasant physical activity that loves and respects one's body more. Third, the positive body of yoga participants plays a role in lowering self-objectivity.
